Hello, and welcome to the maiden entry at Seeing Santa Cruz!
We’re very excited to bring you a new kind of tourism and shopping portal – run by locals, for locals, bringing information about the unique products and services that are available in Santa Cruz to Santa Cruz residents, Californians, and the rest of the world.
In the coming months you’re going to see lots of activity here, leading to an early 2010 launch of SeeSantaCruz.com. Phase I is here already – this blog. We’ll be highlighting local businesses and organizations, local points of interest, sharing local news and weather, surf reports, and bringing you more information about SeeSantaCruz.com and how it can make your life easier – whether you’re a local, or just here for a visit.
You’ll see posts here from our regular contributors. Yours truly (Lynda Williams) and Jessie Lilley Campbell are the co-founders of SeeSantaCruz.com. This whole thing started because I wanted to move to Santa Cruz and couldn’t find the information about it that I needed online (more about that in future posts). As the “creative techie” on the team, I’ll be bringing you information about the web site and how it will work for YOU, along with my personal insights into what it’s like to move here and become part of the community. I’ll also be writing about local businesses, entertainment and points of interest that catch my fancy.
Jessie, our “business techie,” independent magazine editor and resident of Aptos, will be writing features about local businesses and organizations, interesting or unusual activities around the County and bringing her own well-considered viewpoint about what’s happening around the Monterey and San Francisco Bays.
Jessie’s husband David will be writing about surfing, motorcycles and the local music scene. David is an amazing musician – guitar, mandolin, bass, keyboards, and more. You’ve probably seen him performing at various venues around town, most notably with the MoJo Navigators. Or you’ll see him out riding down the coast or through the redwoods on his Harley with wife Jessie firmly settled on the seat behind him. Or maybe, when the surf’s up, you’ll see him early in the morning hanging ten on the way into his favorite beach.
And finally, from time to time we’ll invite guests to contribute here – local business people, travel writers, small business advisors; anyone who can bring a unique perspective or valuable insights into having more fun, or making better business, in our fabulous Santa Cruz.
We want the world to know what we have to offer. Come on by – you’re always welcome!
